OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I'm enjoying my lazy day off when my phone rings. I'm watching "Shear Genius" on TiVo and don't recognize the number, so I let it go to voice mail.

Once I'm done, I go back to play my messages.......

It is a consulting producer from the Oprah Winfrey Show!?!?!?!?! She wanted to talk to me about an e-mail I sent about being a fan of Oprah's...... I'm supposed to call her back!!

I call D, who talks me down back to the calm place, so I call the number and had to leave a voicemail. Dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I'm sitting here, staring at my BlackBerry, willing it to ring! I'm supposed to do dinner tonight and I don't want to go! I'm supposed to take a shower, but I don't want to!

I'm one degree of separation away from Oprah! If you don't know how important this is, go back and read my archives!!

Do they want me as an audience member? Do they want me as a guest? Will I make the cut?

PLEASE CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something to look forward to!!

Well.... in the last couple of days, I've lined up an exciting October for myself!! You know, I'll probably go to more concerts this year than I have in a while.... I mean we've had Van Halen (ROCKED!) and Journey, Heart & Cheap Trick (ROCKED!), but now we've got some new ones lined up. Here they are, of course with a video for you to watch that will either inspire you to buy tickets, be jealous, or both!!

October 11th - Ft. Worth Convention Center Arena
MICHAEL BUBLE' (Sophisticated old school singing like it's 1963!!!)

October 19th - American Airlines Center
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK (aka NKOTB) (Boy banding it like it's 1991!!!)

October 25 - House of Blues Dallas
RICK SPRINGFIELD (Rockin' it like it's 1982!!)

(Ed.'s Note: Can I just say that no one makes videos like they did back in the 1980's? I mean, does anyone remember having video premiere parties when new videos debuted? I remember having a party for Michael Jackson's "Beat It" at Amy's house - we thought we were COOL!!)

You have to love my rather diverse music selections........

Good times are ahead - I cannot wait!! I may have to start some countdowns!

How many of YOU are there out there?

HowManyOfMe.com
LogoThere are
69
people with my name in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

So, I was surfing the web and happened upon a blog that was linked to my friend Leon's blog. If you go to this site and type in your name, it'll tell you how many other people have your same name.

I learned that my first name is the 78th most popular name in the US - really? I guess that's because a lot of old gals sport the name.

So click above and find out how many there are of you......

Don't Talk to Strangers.... unless it's Rick Springfield!!

Karma is shining down on me despite this work week from hell. Laura e-mails me to let me know that Rick Springfield will be in town on October 25 and would I be interested in going?

Interested? Hell, yeah!!

Her next question is do I want to cheapie seats for $38 or am I willing to pay the top price of $100? Okay, I'm all about the $100 seats!! The closer I am to Dr. Noah Drake the happier I'll be......

And of course, I have to post a video for your enjoyment so you can see what you'll be missing.

I'm gonna be loving me somebody when I see Rick on October 25th - woo hoo!!

Tired!

I am sooo tired - it seems like "Groundhog Day." Each day I get up at 5 AM, go to work, work for hours and hours, come home, eat, go to sleep, and do it again. It sucks!!

Good news is that yesterday was the first day back for teachers and it went pretty smooth. It's not perfect, but we are getting there for sure!

My skin cancer procedure is next Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00 AM. The only good news is that it'll be a forced day of relaxation!!

Alright, have to go get ready for work..... AGAIN!! (I'm living for the weekend, where I'll have both days off to do what I want to do!!)

"It's the only number I knew!"

I worked until 2:30 AM last night. By myself. I came home and crashed and have just now woken up and am about to jump into the shower and head back for more work. I hate this time of year when you work in a school!!

Yesterday, I'm meeting with my co-worker Misty to talk about some things. She's got two little boys and is pregnant with her third - we are all thinking pink for her! So Misty and I are talking..... and Vanessa brings her son (age 6, about to start kinder) into my office. Vanessa tells us that he was on the phone with 911. We think Vanessa is joking, but realize pretty quick that she isn't.

So I take the naughty one into her office to talk to him. Our conversation goes a little something like this:

Mo: Why did you call 911?
Naughty One (aka NO): I don't remember.
Mo: I don't believe that, you are 6. Try again.
NO: I wanted to talk to my mother.
Mo: Your mother was next door. Why did you call 911?
NO: I wanted to see if the phone works.
Mo: OK, so you picked up the phone, heard the dial tone and then dialed the number? Why 911?
NO: (looking at me like I'm stupid) It's the only number I knew!

Well, hell...... he wanted to check out the phone and he only knows one number! Misty has been directed to teach him another number.... QUICK!

I had to laugh!! I mean, I was having a horrible day and that just was funny! You have to love what comes out of the mouth of babes!

Update on my 50 Book Goal!!

Well, nothing fun or exciting has happened the last couple of days (just work, sleep, running errands, paying bills, cleaning house, bleh!!), so I decided to update you on my reading goal.

As many of you know (and you can see on the right hand margin of my blog), my goal is to read 50 books this year. And at the beginning of the summer, I was a little disappointed at my paltry efforts thus far. As of June 1st, I had read only 12 books. There was no way I was going to make my goal. I knew I needed to get reading in June and July if I had any chance to redeem myself.

Here are my totals:
January-May: 12 books
June: 4 books
July: 9 books (c'mon, I know you are impressed!!)
Grand Total: 25 books

25 books!?!?! I read more in June and July than I did the first five months of the year! I'm halfway to my goal - you have to be impressed!! I mean, how many books have YOU read this year? hehe

Now, it's August 10, and I'm still on my first August book. So I have 24 more books to read - that's almost a book a week. I need to quit picking up 400+ page books, but I can't help it!

I figured out I need to read 5 books a month or a book a week if I'm going to make my goal........ yikes, that's a tall order with my new work responsibilities!

So does anyone think I can make my goal? I'd love to hear your opinion on the matter.....

Jersey Boys - An Enthusiastic Five Stars!!

Back at the Dallas Summer Musicals tonight after a month hiatus. I can say without a doubt that this was the absolute best musical I have seen this season!! I LOVED IT!! The singing was absolutely amazing - their voices and harmonies were incredible. D and I both think that this was equal to Broadway quality without a doubt.

D and I went together tonight - we got there early and ate at the buffet at the Music Hall. Lots of yummy food - I think we both overdid it a bit.

She was sitting a few rows back and we got her to sit in the row behind with the gay guys. You know this is a good musical when the gay guys don't even have time to make comments because they are so involved in the musical.

Roland and Sylvia loved this also. There were MANY f-bombs (I mean, this did take place in Jersey), so people with more delicate sensibilities may not enjoy it, but as a die-hard Soprano fan - this was right up my alley.

I'm telling you that I'll be calling tomorrow and if I can get tickets again before the show ends, I will go see it again. I already own the soundtrack and have been listening to it, but I can tell you it will be in a much heavier rotation in the car and at work.

I'm a little sad, I only have one more show at the musicals, The Color Purple, in October. I'm anxious to see what shows will happen next season and I can tell you that I will be renewing my tickets again! This has been a great experience!
